6 Week Weight Loss Challenge Complete – 12 lbs lost!

Yesterday completed my 6 week weight loss challenge and I’m ecstatic with the results!

I lost a total of 12 lbs. – which shocks me! My goal was a little stretched, and I’m 2-3 lbs. away from what I wanted. I haven’t measured myself but all my clothes are baggy, so I would say I have gone down 2 pant sizes and a shirt size.

For those of you interested, I will give you an idea of what worked in losing this weight. First off, I didn’t cheat or use any supplements/special products to lose weight. I did take some vitamins here and there such as a multivitamin, fish oil or B vitamins. I don’t take those on a daily basis though because I try to get the nutrients I need from natural food.

Back in the day, many moons ago, I tried diet pills and all those hypes you would see around. Such as green tea extract, raspberry ketones, hydroxycut. All a waste of money. Plus, it’s usually temporary and is unhealthy for you. I changed my outlook on my eating habits. I told myself this is NOT a diet, it’s a complete makeover in changing what I consume and how I view food.

I will admit, the first two weeks were difficult for me. I have such a sweet tooth and continued having sugar cravings often. Still do every now and then. I allowed myself to indulge in during that first period. I also love salty foods and cheese.

The first couple weeks I had headaches and felt tired at times because my body was not used to the dramatic change. Yet, eating clean has changed all that for me today. Although I still love those types of foods, I do not crave them much at all and I don’t look at them the same either. I no longer have the headaches and I feel more alive as well as awake every day.

I cut out alcohol. I’m a social drinker, so it was for about 4 weeks, then brought in maybe a drink or two on the weekends if I wanted one. I cut out most dairy (rarely ate cheese and if I did it was goat cheese. I only had almond, coconut or soy milk if I had coffee/oatmeal. I also cut out most added sugars. I would eat natural foods like fruits that had sugars, but had limited my sugar intake from other foods.

I have a serving of vegetables with lunch and dinner daily. It took me a while to get used to that but now I try to get full off vegetables. I also eat some veggies as snacks between breakfast and lunch, as well as lunch and dinner. My snacks would include a mix of carrots, bananas with almond or cashew butter at times, apples, a variety of nuts and some dried fruit.

This is a lifestyle change for me though, not just a challenge or diet. I completely changed my eating habits and transformed many things in my life. I eliminated as much stress as possible, downsized and simplified my life, as well as things in my life. I took time out for myself and made time to do things I love when I could, such as writing.

I still have a long way to go to be completely at that place I want to be but I know I’m on a wonderful journey getting there. I have been doing yoga here and there but soon will be joining some coworkers of mine in having a class every week. I may also check out that free yoga on Sundays in Downtown Tampa, which is outside and part of nature. That’s the type of yoga I love!

On beautiful days of course. Once I am settled in my new home and environment, I will begin some new hobbies or interests I have. Such as ballroom dance lessons, travel more to cities I’ve never been to before. I want to play the piano again, bungee jump, read more, meditate and much more!

I already started my own challenge last year when I turned 30 to do something different on my birthday. Last year on my 30th I went sky diving. This year for my 31st, which will be next month, I’ll be doing something I haven’t done before as well. I still haven’t decided yet but I will figure it out soon.

Life is just so precious and I want to live it to the fullest every single day I am here. It is too short! Each minute matters in your life. It should be lived the way you want to live it, not according to what others think is best for you.

That is what I am doing now. I am living my life according to my plans and what makes me happy, and it’s fantastic! I don’t care what anyone thinks is best for me. I feel so empowered to be myself now!

If anyone is interested in finding out more about this weight loss challenge I did or any other changes I’ve made, feel free to reach out to me directly. I would be happy to share some more insight!

Happy Living!
