Some of the tough moments in life, are dealing with the opinions from others.
Especially if they are negative opinions, or gossip people heard around of you. People may believe one part of the story without hearing your side at all. In turn, opinions are formed of you without someone even knowing you at all or having ever met you. People will have their opinions regardless. It’s part of life.
Several people will share these with you, willing or not. Some may completely disrespect your feelings and tell you negative things about you, that possibly aren’t even true. Yet, it’s their opinion of you. You obliviously know you best. Even though some people might tell you they know you better than you know yourself.
It’s hurtful finding out the hard way the opinions others share of you. But it’s important to remain strong and not allow the words to hurt you.
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”.
Remember this quote? It’s true if you believe it. Words are just words. And you control your own happiness. Happiness is all in your head. It’s what you believe if you trust it. If I say I will be happy and I am confident in that choice, then I will be happy. It can really be that simple if you allow it to be.
What we have to learn when we are forced in situations around these people, is how to let the words in a sense roll off the ducks back. To focus on better things in life. And not allowing the opinions of others affect you long term. Or ruin your day. This is something you’ll have to deal with for the rest of your life.
We can’t control what everyone does or says, or what situations we’ll be in. The easiest way to not let negative words from others affect you, is to cut that person out of your life if they are toxic. It is one thing to express your opinion constructively to someone, it’s another thing to belittle, criticize or put someone down.
If this truly affects you, then maybe it is time to build up your self-esteem. Stay true to who you are and do not allow negative opinions of others affect your life. Although it may be important for self-growth for us all to change and grow as human beings, it doesn’t mean that everyone’s opinions of you are accurate or correct.
Stay true to who you are. If people do not add value to your life, and only put you down and provide negative feedback, then ditch them!
Find happiness with yourself and find strength in knowing who you are. Surround yourself with positive people that lift you up, and provide constructive criticism when necessary. People around you should add value to your life, not be detrimental to it. Positive vibes!
“Not every person is going to understand you and that’s okay. They have a right to their opinion and you have every right to ignore it.” ~Joel Osteen
